November 6, 2024, 12:44 PM
Nintendo has confirmed that one of the key features of the upcoming Switch 2 will be full backward compatibility with the previous generation. The company's president, Shuntaro Furukawa, announced this at today's briefing.
He also mentioned that the new console will support the Nintendo Switch Online subscription, which, like similar services, provides access to online modes and a collection of retro games.
Furukawa promised to reveal further details about the Nintendo Switch 2 at a later date. The next-generation console is expected to launch no earlier than next spring.
Previously, Nintendo shared that total sales for the Nintendo Switch have reached 146.04 million units.
