Media: The Greatest Showman Director to Produce Tangled Movie for Disney
As Deadline writes in its exclusive article, director Michael Gracey is in talks with Disney to film a live-action remake of Tangled. The plot of the film will completely repeat the original story.
At one time, Michael Gracey was noted for staging one of the highest-grossing musicals, The Greatest Showman, in which Hugh Jackman played the leading role. The 2017 film grossed $435 million at the box office and received a number of awards, including a Grammy and a Golden Globe. So if the negotiations are successful, you can count on good musical numbers in the Tangled remake.
Deadline also reports that a draft of the script is already ready — Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for the comic book movie Thor: Love and Thunder, worked on the latest version. The cast of the upcoming film has not yet been revealed.
Rumors about a live-action remake of Tangled have been circulating since 2023. Then it was reported that British actress Florence Pugh was being considered for the lead role. Viewers could see her in such films as Black Widow, Oppenheimer and Dune 2. In addition, there is information about Disney's plans to make a film adaptation of The Princess and the Frog.
Earlier, information appeared that Warner Bros. will shoot a film about Clayface, one of Batman's opponents.
