Netflix Writers Explain the Poor Quality of Their Movies and Series
In recent years, the Netflix streaming service has had a bad reputation among viewers due to the quality of its shows. It turned out that the site's executives are not interested in good content — they only care about keeping viewers glued to the screen.
N+1 magazine published a major investigation into the working methods of Netflix writers. Among other things, the author of the article, Will Tavlin, revealed the recipe for creating series for the streaming service. He learned this information from former Netflix employees — according to them, the company's executives demand that the viewer literally «chew» what is happening. This is dictated by the fact that many users usually do not watch the show, but turn it on as background music.
As an example, N+1 cited a dialogue from the film Irish Wish with Lindsay Lohan, which was released this year:
In addition, Netflix already covers about 36 thousand microgenres for various shows, including so-called «casual viewing». This term refers to series and other content that are usually watched out of the corner of an eye while doing some work.
Recall that the second season of The Squid Game has now been released in full on Netflix. The series will receive a third and final season in 2025 — most of the filming has already been completed.
