Unseen Studio Designer Proposes to Girlfriend Through a Video Game

Japanese studio Unseen, founded by meme-famous Ikumi Nakamura, delivered a heartfelt surprise to fans. The developers released a video showcasing lead level designer Shane Canning proposing to his girlfriend—via the action-adventure game Kemuri.

Canning crafted a special side quest and asked his girlfriend to "playtest" it. At a pivotal moment, an in-game character tosses something toward the screen, which turns out to be a ring that Canning presents in real life.

In addition to the romantic moment, the video offered glimpses of live gameplay—rare footage from a studio that has largely kept such content under wraps.

Kemuri will follow modern-day yokai hunters living in Japan, featuring cooperative gameplay and parkour mechanics. Unfortunately, the release date remains unknown.
