Dell embraces AMD Ryzen AI Pro for corporate laptops and desktops
At CES 2025, AMD announced its first commercial deal with Dell Technologies, which will see the tech giant incorporate AMD's Ryzen AI Pro processors into its corporate PCs. This move marks a significant shift for Dell, as the company has previously only used AMD processors in its server and workstation offerings.
The Ryzen AI Pro processors, which debuted last year, are designed to handle the growing demands of AI workloads, including the capabilities needed to support Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC features. Equipped with a neural processing unit (NPU), these chips accelerate AI tasks, making them ideal for businesses that rely on advanced computing solutions. In addition to AI support, Ryzen AI Pro chips offer enhanced security and management features under AMD’s Pro Technologies brand, including the second-generation AMD Secure Processor and Cloud Bare Metal Recovery. These features are specifically tailored to meet the needs of enterprise customers.
With a record 23.9% share of the x86 CPU market in the third quarter of last year, AMD continues to strengthen its position in the commercial space. Dell’s decision to adopt AMD processors reflects the increasing importance of cutting-edge silicon in today’s corporate environment, where AI and high-performance computing are becoming essential. This collaboration is expected to help AMD gain further acceptance among enterprise clients, as Dell’s credibility and large market presence will boost the appeal of Ryzen AI Pro-powered devices.
