Ultimate Guide to the Best Beginner Characters in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals is a PvP action game inspired by Overwatch and dedicated to the Marvel universe. As in other similar shooters, the outcome of the match here directly depends on your strategy. And it, in turn, is formed thanks to the abilities of the selected heroes. Let's consider which characters are most preferable for use due to their skills and combinations of various abilities.

Squirrel Girl

Squirrel Girl is one of the most practical heroes at the early stage of the game due to her simplicity and rather strong abilities.

Her standard attack is the ability to shoot exploding acorns at enemies. In addition, the character can call for help from a squad of squirrel helpers or launch a whirlwind of these animals. The heroine is also not deprived of an improved way to move: use the tail to jump higher.

The features of this hero can be improved with the presence of Spider-Man on the team to gain the ability to create and use a web bomb.

Magneto

If you prefer to play as more defensive characters from the very beginning, then Magneto is perfect for you. Combining high damage and good defense, he is one of the brightest representatives of the Defenders class.

For shooting fighters, Magneto uses magnetic spheres and a special gun that charges from deflecting projectiles with other abilities. The gun's readiness is also displayed in the form of the number of rings on the hero's back. The more rings, the higher the damage, up to a complete knockout of the opponent with one hit.

The mutant is protected from a quick fall down: his passive ability allows slowing down an uncontrolled descent. Magneto's abilities also allow creating a shield from nearby metal objects for defense against flying projectiles, surrounding himself or an ally with protection from iron or metal, respectively, and combining scrap metal into a large round object. And Scarlet Witch can help you with creating and enchanting your two-handed sword.

Venom

Another equally strong defender-fighter is Venom. He is distinguished by a rather impressive health regeneration system, which complicates his killing and allows you to spend more time learning the basics of combat. The symbiote is quite mobile: it can quickly move along walls, move slightly on its tentacles, and jump from a height, dealing damage to nearby enemies.

For a regular attack, the hero uses tentacles, which can immobilize the opponent and damage their health, and for the ultimate, he burrows underground to deal as much damage as possible by pressing the corresponding button.

Luna Snow

Ideal for those players who want to play as a support character right away. Luna Snow shoots icy projectiles that can either take away 20 health points from the opponent or restore the same amount to your ally if you hit them.

The heroine can also use their smaller version as a mass attack ability to replenish her health reserves. In addition, if you run forward for some time, accelerated movement and higher jumps become available to you.

Allies are not left out either: you can cast a spell on them to increase health recovery speed or help in battle with an opponent by freezing them and stealing some health. It pairs well with Jeff the Shark, Namor, or Iron Fist: fighters mutually enhance each other's characteristics.

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch is a fairly easy-to-use character with quite strong offensive characteristics, making her one of the best in Marvel Rivals.

The regular attack allows shooting magical projectiles at opponents, the damage of which depends on the enemy's maximum health. Not only do they enter her arsenal, but also stunning bombs and rockets created by magic;

An important skill of the heroine is the ability to fly: she can become invisible or strike the ground with a large energy splash. Like Magneto, the witch slows her speed when falling. However, they are united not only by this but also by a joint improvement, consisting of the mutant's magical sword.

Iron Fist

He can be safely called one of the best heroes for combining fast mobility and good damage. To fight opponents, he uses Jeet Kune Do technique, allowing him to run up to a retreating character to unleash a series of attacks. Successful hits slightly reduce the cooldown of abilities.

He has quite a variety of movement mechanics: he can run and bounce off walls, attack while jumping, and more stably block opponents' attacks. In addition, various abilities increase the speed of health point recovery.

The Punisher

Necessary for players who prefer to play as tank characters. He typically uses two types of weapons: an automatic rifle and a shotgun, which can be switched between at any moment. In addition, the mercenary has all the necessary arsenal: he has access to a portable turret, smoke grenades, a submachine gun, and a mobile zipline, and his passive ability briefly highlights opponents who have disappeared from view.

Psylocke

The ability to leave the battlefield in time and stay alive is valued in any fight. In Marvel Rivals, Psylocke excels at this task, using wrist devices for successful shooting at opponents and reducing ability cooldowns.

The heroine can also use shurikens that attach to opponents, slash all enemies in her path with blades, strike the nearest opponent with a katana, or become invisible for a few seconds.

When used in conjunction with Black Panther, there is an opportunity to quickly return to where your character was a few seconds ago.

Hawkeye

In similar games, there is always a character using a bow. Here it is Hawkeye, capable of shooting explosive, shattering, super-fast, and, of course, regular arrows. The fighter also has melee skills: wields a katana and easily performs a double jump.

Hawkeye's ultimate ability: locking onto an enemy's projection, with the damage dealt to it transferred to the main character. If Black Widow is also on your team, she can interact with the projection as well.

As you can see, one of the advantages of Marvel Rivals is the impressive variety of unique hero abilities, allowing you to easily choose a suitable fighter.
