Quick Start Guide for Marvel Rivals: Tips for Beginners
Team shooters like Marvel Rivals often require a lot of gameplay experience, which doesn't come immediately. So how can a beginner quickly get into the game? Let's look at some tips that will help you understand the basic mechanics, match features, and speed up the development of optimal strategies. Learn how to effectively use training modes, destroy the environment, practice skills, and interact with the team to achieve success in the game.
Complete the Beginner's Training
Marvel Rivals features special training modes for beginners. However, they do not start automatically when you first launch the shooter: you will need to manually select them in the mode menu, so some users are not even aware of their existence.
The entire process consists of four sections: first, you will be introduced to the basics of combat, then shown the variety of characters and their abilities, and finally told about the mechanics of the two main modes "Zone Capture" and "Escort". You will then be offered to practice what you have learned, but we will talk about this later.
Environmental Destructibility — A Practical Aid in Combat
One of the features of the shooter is the ability to eliminate various structures. Thanks to a special ability of all characters, which you will be introduced to during training, you can highlight them for faster detection.
Shoot at structures to deliver a surprise blow to opponents or expand the battlefield.
Practice Skills in Training Grounds
After completing the training, you will be offered to use a special ground to choose your style of play. The developers really put effort into the training mode, adding a wide variety of available exercises in shooting skills, melee, and ability usage.
All battles in Marvel Rivals are quite dynamic, and sometimes you just don't have time to get acquainted with your hero's abilities. Choose characters suitable for your style of play in training mode, trying out all your skills on dummy opponents.
Train with Bots
In the mode menu, there is a separate option to fight opponents controlled by artificial intelligence. Moreover, you have the option to choose from one of three difficulty levels right away.
This is a great opportunity to get to know the modes present in the shooter and their features better since the information in the training was presented quite superficially. Moreover, here you can test your favorite characters in practice, different from the conditions of the training grounds.
Learn Team Skills
When starting a match, try to choose characters not only based on your preferences. The fact is that heroes can receive stat boosts or additional abilities if they are on the same team.
Characters that improve based on your teammates' choices are specially highlighted in the menu. This is a significant indicator, as a greater percentage of enhancement is added to the hero's standard stat values in this way.
Don't Rush Into Battle
At the very beginning of the match, all abilities except for ultimate ones are available for use, so you will lose health points quite quickly in the first fight. Wait for the enemies to use their skills, and only then deliver a surprise attack.
Something Not Working? Change Your Hero
Team shooters are famous for their variety of tactics: Marvel Rivals is no exception. This is why it's impossible to find a unique strategy and special character for all matches.
If your hero is quickly neutralized, preventing you from dealing return damage, or if the game just isn't going well, you can always change them after death. To do this, press the special button located in the bottom right corner of the screen and make a new selection in the corresponding menu.
Use Temporary Boosts
During the match, you will come across small stations in various corners of the map that allow you to restore some health, jump high forward, or partially charge your ultimate ability. Remember their locations to successfully use the enhancements until the end of the game.
Watch Your Step
The landscape of Marvel Rivals maps is quite diverse. Sometimes locations are in the air, sometimes on elevations. Move carefully to avoid falling, as in this case, your character will die, and you will have to wait 10 seconds to return to the battlefield.
