Rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2, which has not yet been officially announced, continue to surface online. Now, information about the potential performance of the console has emerged. It was shared by a dataminer known as ZachyCatGames and subsequently picked up by several major outlets.

According to the rumors, the GPU clock speed in handheld mode will be 561 MHz, with a performance of 1.71 TFLOPS. In docked mode, the GPU clock speed will be around 1000 MHz, with a performance of 3.1 TFLOPS.

For comparison, here are the TFLOPS of other consoles:

  • PS5 Pro — 16.7 TFLOPS;
  • PS5 — 10.3 TFLOPS;
  • Xbox Series X — 12.1 TFLOPS;
  • Xbox Series S — 4 TFLOPS;
  • Nintendo Switch — 236 GFLOPS (handheld mode) and 393 GFLOPS (docked mode).

Another dataminer, gimargsi, shared more detailed specs of the console:

  • CPU: Arm Cortex-A78C 8 cores. Unknown L1/L2/L3 cache sizes;
  • GPU: NVIDIA T239 Ampere (RTX 20 series) 1 Graphics Processing Cluster (GPC), 12 Streaming Multiprocessors (SM), 1534 CUDA cores, 6 Texture Processing Clusters (TPC), 48 Tensor Gen 3 cores, 2 RTX ray tracing cores;
  • RAM: 12 GB LPDDR5 (some/all devices will feature LPDDR5X chips). Two 6 GB chips.

Handheld Mode:

  • CPU Frequency: 1100.8 MHz;
  • GPU Frequency: 561 MHz, peak performance 1.7 TFLOPs;
  • RAM: 2133 MHz, peak bandwidth 68.26 GB/s.

Docked Mode:

  • CPU Frequency: 998.4 MHz;
  • GPU Frequency: 1007.3 MHz, peak performance 3.09 TFLOPs;
  • RAM: 3200 MHz, peak bandwidth 102.40 GB/s.

Nintendo has yet to comment on this information, so it should be taken with a grain of skepticism. According to other rumors, the Switch 2 might be announced as soon as this week — on January 16.
