RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 Sold 10 Times Faster Than Previous Models

The launch of the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 graphics cards shattered all internal records. As company head Lisa Su mentioned in an interview with China’s Bilibili, the first week saw ten times as many units sold compared to previous generations of Radeon.
By stepping away from the premium segment, AMD placed its bet on balanced features and affordable pricing. The flagship RX 9070 XT, priced at $600, not only outperformed its main rival — the GeForce RTX 5070Ti (priced at least $150 higher) in most tests — but also became more accessible thanks to efficient logistics. Su noted that delaying the release from January to March allowed for a buildup of launch inventory. Some retailers received as many as 5,000 units on the first day of sales, while NVIDIA’s Blackwell series models were vanishing from shelves in batches of just a few dozen.
While the “green giant” is struggling with shortages and price gouging (with some RTX 50 series models selling for twice the recommended price), AMD is showcasing unique flexibility. The company’s partners are already receiving new shipments of RDNA 4 accelerators, and budget-friendly RX 9060 models are expected to hit the market in the coming months — adding even more pressure on competitors.
By shifting focus to the mid-budget segment, AMD has managed to capture the mass market of gamers who are tired of the inaccessibility of high-end solutions. And while NVIDIA continues to bank on future technologies, the “red” team is proving that the present is here — and it deserves a place in every computer. Can NVIDIA rise to the challenge, or is the era of its uncontested dominance coming to an end?
