AMD Prepares Zen 6 Processors with Over 6 GHz Frequency and 24 Cores

AMD is gearing up for a major upgrade with its upcoming Zen 6 processor lineup, which could mark a breakthrough in computing technology. According to insider reports, including exclusive information from the YouTube channel Moore's Law Is Dead, users can expect not only record-high clock speeds but also unprecedented multi-core performance within the next two years.
The flagship desktop platform, Olympic Ridge, will be the first in the world to combine 24 high-performance Zen 6 cores and two energy-efficient Zen 5 LP cores in a single package. This hybrid approach will optimize power consumption without compromising performance. Built on TSMC's 3nm N2X process, the Zen 6 cores are expected to surpass the 6 GHz barrier, which is 15% higher than the current records set by the Ryzen 7000 series.
A key innovation will be a radical overhaul of inter-chiplet connections. Instead of relying on traditional data exchange through system memory, CCD blocks will now communicate directly via a low-latency bridge, speeding up cache synchronization by 2 to 3 times. Memory will also see significant improvements: the DDR5 controllers in the new IOD die (Samsung 4LPP) will support a 1:1 mode at speeds of up to 8000 MT/s and a 1:2 mode reaching a record-breaking 10,000 MT/s. For comparison, current models are limited to 6400 MT/s in synchronous mode.
Despite a planned release in 2026, Olympic Ridge will retain compatibility with the AM5 socket, likely making it the last and most powerful version for this platform. For budget builds, AMD plans to release simplified IOD versions based on TSMC’s N6 process —
without energy-efficient cores but retaining the 24-core configuration. If the reported specs hold true, Zen 6 is poised to set new standards for processors.
