Best Mods for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Armor, Weapons, Graphics Enhancement, Map Changes, Magic and Inventory
The Witcher 3 is one of the best RPGs of recent years. However, it was released 6 years ago, and its visuals have become somewhat outdated. You can improve the graphics with user-made modifications. Additionally, these mods allow you to customize the game to your liking, for example, by making the interface more convenient and making changes to the gameplay. We've gathered the best mods for the third Witcher in this article.
How to Install Mods for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Download the Community Patch. You need to move it to the root folder of the game, replacing the files. By default, it is located in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3.
- Download the Mod Limit fix. Move it to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\binx64. Run the file modlimitpatcher.exe.
- Install the The Witcher 3 Mod Manager. Run it and specify the root folder of the game C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3.
- Install the Script Manager. You also need to run it and specify the game folder.
If you have installed all the tools, you will be able to not only launch mods using the manager but also resolve potential conflicts between them. To do this, run Script Manager and check the modifications for compatibility using the Refresh function. If they cannot work simultaneously, choose the mod that is more important to you.
If a mod is not installed through the manager, we will indicate this in the description.
Giorma's Ultra Realistic Reshade 1.0
The latest mod at the moment that uses ReShade technology. The author of the modification decided to make the game's visuals more realistic while preserving its artistic style.
Installation steps:
- Download the latest version of ReShade.
- Download the mod archive and move it to the game folder.
- Run Reshade_Setup.exe, select The Witcher 3, and then Giorma's Reshade.ini.
- Launch the game. Then press the Shift + F2 key combination to open the ReShade settings. There, you need to select Giorma's Reshade again.
No Levels. Combat Overhaul
The No Levels modification makes opponents much smarter. They will flank you, counterattack effectively, and try to overwhelm you with numbers if possible. Additionally, your combat skills in the game have been changed, weapon and armor stats have been manually reworked, and the dependency of enemy strength on your level has been removed.
Wiedzmin. A Book Friendly
Извини за недоразумение! Вот перевод на английский с сохранением расположения тегов:
This set of modifications allows you to get closer to the appearance of Geralt from the books. The White Wolf From Rivia — Lore Geralt mod will change the face and hairstyle of the White Wolf according to the descriptions by Andrzej Sapkowski, and the Geralt Leather Headband Edited mod will allow you to put on the canonical headband to keep the hair from getting tousled by the wind. With the Book Inspired set Cos Wiecej — Standalone DLC mod, you can add new armor and weapons that match the book lore.
Triss. A Book Friendly
A set of three mods that will make Triss's appearance closer to the descriptions from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. The first modification changes her hair color to chestnut, the second adds a scar on her chest and covers the neckline in her dress, and the third makes the sorceress's eyes blue. In addition, the textures of the skin on her face and body are improved.
Yennefer. A Book Friendly
Two modifications that change Yennefer's hairstyle and eyes to match the book lore. Several hair styling options are available.
Ciri. A Book Friendly
The Lore Friendly Ciri modification contains everything needed to make Geralt's adopted daughter look like she does in the books. You can change her face, alter her hair color, and make the scar on her cheek more realistic.
New sexy Companions for Geralt
Unfortunately, in the main game, you don't have the opportunity to build relationships with Fringilla Vigo and Margarita Laux-Antille. This mod partially corrects this shortcoming. It allows you to replace the appearance of the courtesans in the brothel so that they look like sorceresses.
Romance Anarietta and Vivienne
This modification allows you to start a romance with the Duchess of Toussaint and her handmaiden from the Blood and Wine expansion. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to befriend the succubus Salma. Thanks to this mod, you can not only spend nights with your chosen beauty but also travel with them through the game world. Anna Henrietta and Vivienne will require your protection, while the succubus can take care of herself.
Insta Mount-up
After your whistle, Roach does not appear immediately. If you don't want to wait for her every time, use this modification. It allows you to instantly mount your horse with a single press of the summon button.
No Arrow and Sword Trails
In the original game, melee weapons and arrows leave a barely noticeable trail in the air. This mod removes that visual effect.
High Quality Faces
A separate point of the program is the detailed faces of the characters. Moreover, the modification improves both main characters and random NPCs.
Installation Instructions:
- Open the folder C:UsersusernameDocumentsThe Witcher 3.

Complete Animations
This modification is cosmetic, but it can enhance immersion in the game world. After installation, every action of Geralt, from eating to using oils, will have its own animation. If desired, they can be customized in the mod menu.
The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project
This mod is for those who do not want to bother with individual game settings but want to update the overall picture with one modification. The changes are truly impressive.
The Enhancement System
The main feature of The Enhancement System modification is the completely reworked characteristics of weapons. In addition, new samples of weapons and armor have been added to the game, and combat animations have been improved.
Installation Instructions:
- Download the mod.
- Move the modEnhancementSystem and modEnhancementSystemHOS folders to the mods directory located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\Mods.
- Move the DLC and bin folders to the corresponding directories in the root of the game.
Shades of Iron
This modification adds 26 armor sets to the game, as well as new weapons and unique monsters. New items work as additional content.
Installation Instructions:
- Download the mod archive and unpack it.
- Move the Mods and DLC directories to the root folder of the game, which is by default located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3.
Vagabond Armor DLC
This armor resembles the clothing of Dettlaff, the main villain of the Blood and Wine expansion, styled as Bear School armor. It can be purchased in Kaer Trolde, the largest port of the Skellige archipelago.
Installation Instructions:
- Download the mod archive and unpack it.
- Move the modification folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\DLC.
Witcher 2 Gear
If you prefer the armor style in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings over the third part, check out this modification. With it, almost all armor and clothing sets in Wild Hunt will be replaced with their counterparts from the second Witcher.
Kaer Morhen Upgradable Gear
The starting armor in the third Witcher quickly became obsolete — almost any armor in the game had better characteristics. However, if you want to continue using the Kaer Morhen armor, install this mod. It will allow you to upgrade this armor set.
Installation Instructions:
- Download the mod archive and unpack it.
- Move the modKaerMorhenGear folder to the Mods directory located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\Mods.
- Copy the DLCKaerMorhenGear folder to the DLC directory.
Geralt the Wild Hunter
This modification allows you to dress Geralt in Wild Hunt armor. You can choose between the armor of regular soldiers and the outfit of Eredin himself. The new armor sets will replace the existing ones from the Griffin and Bear schools. Note that only one type of new armor can be installed at a time.
BLOOD
With this mod, fights in the game will become truly brutal. The main change is related to blood. Its appearance will be more realistic, and every hit you make on an enemy will result in a bloody fountain.
Friendly HUD
A bulky interface is one of the main drawbacks of all parts of the Witcher series. But, thanks to this mod, it will become more convenient. For example, you will be able to place 3D markers on important objects and get quick access to oils, bombs, and poisons.
Fast Travel from Anywhere
In the third Witcher, the fast travel system is quite peculiar — to travel, you need to get to a signpost. This is inconvenient and takes extra time. But with this mod, you will be able to fast travel from anywhere.
All Quest Objectives On Map
With this mod, the game world map will become much more convenient. For example, you will be able to activate several story quests at once and mark the locations of wandering merchants.
Select multiple mutations
In the Blood and Wine expansion, Geralt gains access to mutations that significantly enhance his abilities. However, only one can be used at a time. This game limitation can be fixed with this mod.
Magic Spells for Signs and Weapons
In the Witcher trilogy games, Geralt's magical abilities are limited to five simple signs. However, after installing this mod, their number will increase several times. You will be able to summon golem allies, become invisible, throw fireballs at enemies, and much more.
Installation:
- Download the mod.
- Move the files from the DLC and Mods folders to the root folder of the game with replacement. By default, it is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3.
The Gwent Card Dealer
If you spend time playing Gwent, this mod is for you. After installing it, a merchant will appear in the game world who sells almost the entire deck. With it, you will be able to win the Gwent tournament and get the card collection achievement.
Better Call Ciri
In the third Witcher game, Ciri is featured in only a few short gameplay episodes. If you want to play as her more often, install this mod. You will have the opportunity to switch from Geralt to his adopted daughter at any moment in the game.
Over 9000
If you prefer to carry everything you see from the battlefield, this mod will be useful to you. It increases the inventory size to 9,000 slots, making it practically unlimited. Recall that in the original game, with the best saddlebags, its capacity reached only 250 units of weight.
Auto Apply Oils
Before fighting monsters, it is recommended to coat your sword with the oil that is most effective against the foe. If you find this mechanic inconvenient, install this mod. With it, applying oil to your weapon will happen automatically.
Indestructible Items
This mod is suitable for those who do not like that Geralt's equipment breaks down over time and requires repair. After installing it, weapons and armor will always have 100% durability.
AutoLoot
You can make loot collection easier with this mod. You will automatically pick up all trophies from killed monsters and bandits. If desired, you can configure the mod so that only specific loot goes into your inventory.
Better Trophies
After completing monster hunting contracts, you will receive trophies in the form of severed heads. This mod significantly increases their effectiveness. Depending on the type of trophy, you can increase sword attacks, enhance sign effectiveness, boost health regeneration speed, or start gaining additional experience for killing monsters.
Remove Weapon and Armor Level Restrictions
As in almost any RPG, weapons and armor in the third Witcher have certain level requirements for the hero. Sometimes this is annoying, especially when you find a great sword but know that you won't be able to use it in combat for a long time. This mod helps to bypass this restriction.
Crossbow Damage Boost and Balance
In the third Witcher game, the crossbow is almost useless in combat — the damage from bolts is much lower than from sword strikes or using signs. After installing this mod, the crossbow will become the best way to eliminate enemies from a distance. It significantly increases the damage dealt and improves the physics of bolt flight.
Shields
This mod adds shields to the game. With their help, you can block light attacks, deflect arrows, and reduce damage from particularly strong enemy attacks. Be prepared for the combat mechanics to change.
Installation:
- Download the mod.
- Transfer the files from the DLC and Mods folders to the game's root directory, replacing existing files. By default, it is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3.
