Export in the expansion has become a special resource available only to three Asian civilizations. It can be used to recruit troops from other nations, as well as to research technology through the consulate, where the player can designate enemies, allies, and also choose Japanese isolationism. Exports are created automatically when settlers are engaged in gathering, but the rate of its receipt is much lower than that of other resources, which makes it necessary to create a large army. Increasing the rate of export accrual, as well as experience points are awarded in other ways (for example, for sacred cows in the case of India), which are unique to each civilization.
