The game takes place after the original Avatar movie. The main character is a Na'vi who was kidnapped and raised by humans. He does not know his home world and was raised in human culture. After the army training program, he knows how to use weapons, vehicles and other human machines.
For a time, a force of indoctrinated natives defended the RDA, guarding the Company's property while it built up a network of bases on Pandora. But after the battle in the Hallelujah Mountains (the attack on Eywa in the finale of Avatar), the detachment was disbanded, and its soldiers, by a happy coincidence, were not killed as unnecessary witnesses, but were plunged into long-term cryosleep.
Shortly after people returned to Pandora, the protagonist and his friends were brought out of cryosleep. Brought up in hostility towards his people, he has a long journey ahead of him, during which he will reunite with his people, learn the way of the Na'vi and regain the trust of his fellow tribesmen.
Everything is controlled by John Mercer, the main antagonist of the game and the scoundrel who came up with the idea of stealing Na'vi babies.
