Dune 2000 — top-down real-time strategy game. Emperor Frederic Corrino 4 issued a decree that the House that could produce the most spice would control its source, the planet Dune, with no restrictions on how this would be achieved. As in Dune 2, there are 3 main playable factions — House Atreides, House Harkonnen and House Ordos. There are also four non-playable factions: House Corrino, Fremen, Mercenaries and Smugglers.
The player can take control of one of 3 houses, at the head of which he will be able to fight for control of the spice on the planet Arrakis, or Dune. The player collects the spice to obtain "solarium", the game's currency used to produce units. As in most real-time strategy games, the game's map is initially covered in the fog of war, with the exception of the areas in which the player's combat units are located. As the units explore the map, the darkness gradually disappears.
