FIFA 99 — the game featured many new leagues (there were even problems with selling the game in Portugal, where a conflict arose with the license holders for the Portuguese championship), which contributed to good sales of the game and increased popularity. The graphics of the game, character animation, unique team uniforms and their emblems have also been significantly improved. Players were allowed to create their own tournaments and choose the teams that would participate in them. The game featured a “European Super League” mode, which included the 20 best teams in Europe who fought each other in a large group tournament.
