Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition

Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition is a special edition of the role-playing action game with a third-person view in the futuristic universe of Final Fantasy for personal computers. You can expect enhanced graphics, all previously released add-ons and expansions, and mod support.

Released on March 6, 2018, Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition is a separately developed PC version of Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition, which allowed Square Enix to avoid most of the issues associated with console ports.

The Windows Edition contains all the content of the "royal version": story add-ons about Gladiolus, Prompto, and Ignis (the companions of the main hero Noctis), a cooperative multiplayer for four players Comrades, and all the features of the original Final Fantasy XV. However, this edition is not complete, as the developers released new add-ons in 2019 as part of the second season pass.

The main achievement of the former console exclusive is the control system, which has been thoroughly reworked for keyboard and mouse. This makes it possible to get the hang of it in just a few minutes, and a joystick is not required at all for confident gameplay.

The PC version of Final Fantasy XV was released on Steam and Windows 10, which is why multiplayer is divided into two parts. Steam version buyers play only among themselves, while Windows Store buyers can play both among themselves and in cross-platform multiplayer with players of the Royal Edition and the Comrades expansion on Xbox One.

Steam version owners can download custom mods or create their own using a special program. In addition to various clothing and erotic mods, the Steam Workshop also features a Gordon Freeman costume from Half-Life, as well as new weapons, cars, and much more.

Square Enix has done a great job on the visual quality and has made many basic and additional graphics settings for the PC version of Final Fantasy XV, allowing everyone to choose their preferred option. With settings above "medium", the difference between the PC version and the Xbox One or PS4 is visible to the naked eye, in favor of the former.

The game has been enhanced with high-resolution textures, improved lighting system through VXAO, light and shadow play (ShadowLibs), many models have been refined, and character hairstyles look more natural thanks to Nvidia HairWorks. TurfEffects technology is used for simulating grass. The initial game size is 85 gigabytes, with an additional 60 required for the HD texture pack (installed separately), totaling 145 gigabytes.

There is also support for numerous resolution options (up to 4K) and multi-monitor configurations. Thanks to excellent optimization, the Windows Edition shows stable FPS on most current computers. To increase the frame rate, proprietary Nvidia settings can be disabled.
