This is the first part of the series that I got around to playing (back on the ancient celeron on Windows 2000). As often happens, the first game leaves the strongest impressions. And GTA3 is the same case.

at that time it was a breakthrough - an open world where you can have a lot of trouble without touching the plot (which, by the way, is very good), perform stunts in cars, work as a taxi driver, policeman, fireman...

cheats on pieces of paper , modifications on disks from gaming magazines, the first experience of emulating a disk for a game, patches for a diskless game, ...

playing GTA3 is truly interesting, the game has a certain special atmosphere.

It’s a pity there is no multiplayer, but at that time they didn’t think about it at all.

the impressions are very positive, it’s a must to pass (and not only!)

Legend. Start.

The first game in the series, successfully breaking out of the embrace of 2D graphics into the vastness of 3D. Successful, because history knows of significantly less successful starts.

The combination of freedom, dynamic gameplay, unique mechanics of “steal even a dump truck” and a good plot did their job.

The adventures of the great hijackers, which grew into full-fledged mafia showdowns with operations, chases and shootouts, attracted so much attention from players to the project that this led to the accelerated development of the series.

The third part will always stand apart - it marks a turning point in the history of the series. The transition to 3D, a third-person view (although the traditional top-down view is also in place), the appearance of many attributes and little things that GTA is associated with.

The hero is silent, but gaming culture knows enough examples when a silent protagonist becomes a cult character. (“Awake and sing, Mr. Freeman, wake and sing...”)

There is one city, not three, Liberty City, but there is plenty of room to wander around - three islands with a business center, an airport, Chinatown, an industrial zone, a fashionable residential area etc.

Classic.

The game isn't bad, but it can't be called a super masterpiece either. Just a good part to play. Claude is also a good character. The plot is also good and there are enough weapons. Worth playing

For me, the three is the best part so far. After all, it was she who once greatly influenced the gaming industry and the genre as a whole. For me, this is a masterpiece, one of my favorite games. No other part of GTA touched me so much, like this part. The plot here may be simple, but GTA was never famous for its plot, but for its open world and gameplay. Troika gave us all this, it gave us a three-dimensional space that was interesting to study. I spent hundreds or even thousands of hours in it. Definitely a masterpiece. 10 out of 10.
