Ubisoft no longer sees Watch Dogs as a promising franchise
It looks like insiders were right in their claims that the Watch Dogs series is «dead and buried.» At a recent meeting with investors, Ubisoft didn't even mention the series as a key one.
According to Eurogamer, the company intends to focus on developing service games in the open world, as it invests in the development of AI. In this context, Ubisoft specifically mentioned the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, The Division, Ghost Recon and Star Wars series. At the same time, the Watch Dogs franchise was passed over, not once being remembered throughout the conference. Most likely, the series was abandoned for some time after the unsuccessful launch of Legion.
Let us remind you that Ubisoft recently announced the cancellation of the free shooter The Division Heartland.
