Founder and former head of Avalanche Studios Christopher Sundberg criticized recent comments from director George Miller, who called 2015's Mad Max «not as good a game as we would like.» He accused the director of Fury Road of arrogance and spoke about problems in development.

According to Christopher Sundberg, originally published by Warner Bros. Interactive insisted that Mad Max be linear, even though Avalanche had previously made open-world games like the Just Cause series. The developers followed this task for about a year until a new requirement arrived:

After the first year of development they realized that they had forced us to make a linear experience rather than the open world game we pitched. We threw away a year of work and got to hear that «players wants autonomy in this day and age».

He was also stung by George Miller's comment that 2015's Mad Max «wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.» Christopher Sundberg called it «complete nonsense and a display of arrogance.»

Let us remember that yesterday at the premiere of Furiosa, the eminent director spoke about his desire to entrust a new game about Mad Max to Hideo Kojima and briefly criticized Mad Max.
