It turns out that Shadowheart from Baldur's Gate 3 was intended to be much more sassy than in the release version of the game. The developers from Larian Studios went so far in trying to create an ambiguous character that they themselves disliked the heroine.

In the early stages, two key traits were identified for the priestess of the goddess Shar — insolence and hot temper. The writers decided that this would be a great idea because they wanted to write a group of adventurers with complex characters. At first, Shadowheart seemed «great» to them, but at some point the writers went too far.

As Swen Vincke admitted at one of the BAFTA events, the character began to irritate even the developers. He quoted the lead writer as saying that she «really doesn't like Shadowheart». After this, it was decided to radically rewrite the character of the heroine.

This version of Shadowheart could still be found in the early access of Baldur's Gate 3. However, upon release, players received a completely different character.

Players recently discovered that the Baldur's Gate 3 Collector's Edition for Xbox contained two copies of the game.
