New Slitterhead gameplay from Silent Hill creator released
At PAX West 2024, almost half an hour of gameplay from the horror game Slitterhead was presented — a new project from Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama. The 24-minute excerpt showed the very beginning of the game with unusual mechanics and bizarre battles.
Gamers will have to take on the role of a certain entity Heki — an incorporeal creature that can inhabit people or animals. The first «body» will be an ordinary yard dog, for which you can run along the streets and find the next target by smell. Judging by the demo, the game will have spatial puzzles: for example, you can bypass an obstacle by simply finding a new host on the other side of the barrier.
The player and Heki's target will be parasites — monsters that change people's bodies. You can fight them either alone or by controlling several of your hosts, delivering distracting blows from different sides. The main character will use his own blood as a weapon, turning it into a mace, a katana, or something like Wolverine's claws.
Slitterhead will be released on November 8 on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
