Borderlands 4 creators will provide early access to the game to a fan with cancer
One of the fans of the Borderlands series posted a sad post on Reddit about the fact that he may not have time to play the fourth part due to late-stage cancer. Gearbox Software responded to the fan's request.
Redditor Caleb McAlpine said in the thematic community that he is really looking forward to the release of Borderlands 4. However, he may not live to see the release of the game — the 37-year-old gamer was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. Doctors gave a disappointing prognosis: according to them, the fan has no more than two years left. Then the player decided to take a risk and ask Gearbox for early access to the game.
Studio co-founder Randy Pitchford responded to the fan's request, responding to calls from other users. On social media, he reported that he had already contacted Caleb McAlpine:

Caleb and I are now chatting via e-mail and we’re going to do whatever we can to make something happen.
Given this answer, we can hope that the gamer will still fulfill his dream and at least participate in testing the game. In the comments, other players advised the studio to add an Easter egg to Borderlands 4 in honor of a devoted fan.
At the same time, the head of Gearbox responded to another request from fans. A user with the nickname Joltzdude139 complained about the lack of a seamless world in Borderlands. In response, Randy Pitchford hinted that it could be implemented in the fourth part.
Recall that the release of Borderlands 4 will take place in 2025 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. In August, the developers talked a little about the future game and shared concept art.
