Hitman developers end partnership with Conor McGregor over rape scandal

IO Interactive has announced that it has decided to sever all ties with mixed martial artist Conor McGregor, who was recently found guilty of raping a woman six years ago by the High Court of Ireland.

In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately. We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications. Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts starting today.

It is worth noting that Hitman 3 features an elusive target named The Disruptor, who is modeled after Conor McGregor. Additionally, he also voiced this character, available in a special mission. Incidentally, this mission returned earlier this month for a limited time (until December 8). Gamers who purchased the Disruptor DLC with this mission have access to various bonuses, including cosmetics, an additional outfit, and items.

Here's how users reacted to the news of the termination of the partnership with Conor McGregor:

«People don't understand that what you mean by this is that you're sending Agent 47», — Cromwelp.

«Why? I can't think of a better game for him to be in. You can hunt his ass down for justice», — Nicksurvives.

«Great decision. I wish the UFC would do the same», — babyscarlet02.

«Killing game removes your ability to kill a man after it is revealed the man is not a good person», — leedayunderwood.

«Crazy that you went with that collab while knowing this court hearings were happening», — bombaclatus.

Regarding the court's verdict, last week, a jury ruled that Conor McGregor did indeed sexually assault a woman in a Dublin hotel in December 2018. He is now required to pay her €248,000 in damages. The athlete, in turn, intends to appeal.
