Dataminer: Valve Playtesting Half-Life 3
Authoritative dataminer Gabe Follower reported that Valve has already begun internal playtests of Half-Life 3. If everything goes well, the announcement of the new game may take place in 2025.
In the latest video, Gabe Follower analyzed new data from the code of Valve games. Presumably, for the project called HLX (probably Half-Life 3), they continue to refine navigation in the altered gravity mode, the system of ignition of the entire surface, advanced physics of hair and dismemberment of objects. In addition, hints appeared about the implementation of a normal water system for Source 2 and real-time ray tracing.
As the dataminer pointed out, Valve allegedly recently began internal testing of HLX, involving not only other teams, but also friends and family members in the task. He said that the last time such playtests were conducted for Deadlock and Half-Life Alyx, after which the style of the first was changed, and the plot of the second was rewritten. If the testing of HLX is successful, the game may be announced as early as 2025.
Recall that earlier Gabe Follower spoke about Valve actively hiring new employees. The studio invited the creators of Doom, Red Dead Redemption 2 and other AAA games to develop their projects.
