Jez Corden: State of Decay 3 Won't Release in 2025

If anyone is waiting for the zombie shooter State of Decay 3, they'll have to be patient for another year. That's exactly what Windows Central editor Jez Corden thinks.

In a recent episode of the Jez C podcast, the journalist shared his prediction of what unnamed projects Microsoft might show at the January Xbox Developer Direct. As for State of Decay 3, he said that he'd «bet money» that the game will be released in 2026, not 2025. However, its development is closer to completion than many people think.

Recall that the first teaser for the shooter was shown back in 2020, and the full trailer was released in 2024 at the Xbox Games Showcase. State of Decay 3 will take place in an open world years after the zombie apocalypse. The game will feature a branching plot with the consequences of elections, multiplayer and base building. The shooter has already acquired a page on Steam.

Jez Corden also touched on rumors surrounding the possible announcement of a remaster of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. According to the journalist, the project will not be exactly a re-release, but rather just a graphical improvement without any significant changes to the combat system and mechanics.

Earlier, the editor of Windows Central spoke about the new part of Fable. According to him, the game's combat will be close to what we saw in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The project should be shown on January 22 Xbox Developer Direct along with other projects from Microsoft studios.
