It's Revealed Who's Creating the Soundtrack for Doom: The Dark Ages. And No, It's Not Mick Gordon
During the Xbox Developer Direct presentation, id Software showcased a new trailer for the shooter Doom: The Dark Ages, which not only featured gameplay but also gave us a taste of the in-game music. It turns out the soundtrack is being crafted by the group Finishing Move, known for their work on Borderlands 3 and Halo Wars 2.
The group has also contributed to the soundtracks of games like Halo 2: Anniversary Edition, Grounded, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and The Callisto Protocol.
Members:
- Brian Lee White — Lead Composer and Sound Designer;
- Brian Trifon — Lead Composer and Co-Founder;
- Jay Wiltzen — Composer and Sound Designer;
- Alex Klingle — Composer and Sound Designer.
It's worth noting that Doom 2016's composer was Mick Gordon, but he had a conflict with Bethesda. Gordon accused the company of not paying him, and stated that executive producer Marty Stratton behaved insultingly towards him. Bethesda, on the other hand, denied the allegations, calling his account "a one-sided and unjust portrayal of irreparable professional relationships".
As a result, the music for the Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods expansion was handled by Andrew Hulshult and David Levy. Gamers thought they might also compose the soundtrack for Doom: The Dark Ages, but it turns out a different group is at the helm.
Remember, the game releases on May 15 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
