Rumor: The Next God of War Game Will Be Set in Ancient Egypt

It appears that the next installment of God of War will take players to an entirely new region. According to well-known film insider Daniel Richtman, Sony might be preparing a game centered around Egyptian mythology.

In his report, Richtman mentions that the studio is currently casting actors from the Middle East for an unannounced AAA game, and it is most likely "the next God of War that explores Egyptian mythology."

For context, developers at Santa Monica Studio had previously considered setting Kratos's adventures in Ancient Egypt but ultimately chose the realm of Thor and Odin instead. It’s possible that the team has decided to revisit those earlier concepts.

Previously, it was revealed that Sony canceled two service-based games, including a project related to God of War. Bluepoint Games, known for their work on the Demon's Souls remake, had been working on this game.
