Shooter F.E.A.R. Gets a Fan-Made “Remaster” with Up to 240 FPS, Fixed Physics, HD Reflections, and More Improvements
Diana Golenko
Fans of the original F.E.A.R. have released a large-scale mod called EchoPatch, which not only restores the classic shooter but also fixes long-standing issues in the official PC version. Now players can revisit the game without major gameplay changes but in much higher quality.
The mod updates the shooter and its expansions with modern features, including UI scaling, high framerates up to 240 FPS, HD reflections, fixed physics, controller recognition, and other enhancements. It also enables widescreen resolutions, adds higher detail to all objects, fixes control issues on non-English keyboards, introduces VRAM support up to 4GB, and prevents objects such as blood splatters, bodies, and more from disappearing — while keeping the game’s destructibility intact.
The EchoPatch mod can be downloaded via this link. The fan patch is fully compatible with both the Steam and GOG versions of the game.
Incidentally, the remaster of Gears of War: Reloaded was recently released for modern systems. We tested the new edition and shared our thoughts — was it worth the purchase, or just another pointless project?
