The authors of the sequel Cyberpunk 2077 promised to show a real dystopia

The developers from CD Projekt RED promised to pay more attention to «social commentary» in the continuation of Cyberpunk 2077. In their opinion, the problems of society in the world of cyberpunk were not sufficiently addressed in the first part.
As junior game director Pawel Sasko noted in a recent AnsweRED podcast, the sequel will further explore society in Night City:
I see that we didn't push the envelope far enough in some places, for instance. Like, let's say, the homeless crisis. When I look at it, I'm like, 'We weren't far enough in [Cyberpunk 2077.] We thought that we were dystopian, but we just touched the surface.
Cyberpunk 2 executive producer Dan Hernberg agreed that the social issues in the first part were not addressed enough:
I think for me that's what Cyberpunk is about, exploring those themes but in a very poignant way. I love the world, and I think that's what we're going to try to do with Project Orion.
Let us remind you that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is still in the pre-production stage, and most of the studio's efforts are focused on The Witcher 4.
