Recently, a thematic event Winter Tales has started in Escape from Tarkov, in which everyone can participate, regardless of the level. In this guide, we will tell you where to find Morana effigies, how to light bonfires, and complete all of Prapor's temporary quests.
A few weeks ago, the snow in the locations of Escape from Tarkov melted, but suddenly winter returned — all thanks to the new event. Below we will tell everything that is known about the thematic event in this game.
For this, players need to initially visit Prapor and activate several mandatory quests.
The player needs to find Morana minions on any map, kill one of them, and approach the bonfire closely to complete the task.
Note that individual players do not need to light a bonfire a million times. On the official website of the game a counter is launched, which sums up the bonfires of all players. Most likely, the event will end once a million bonfires are lit.
Morana effigy can be found on the following maps:
The locations of Morana minions in this guide are collected based on personal experience. We have not marked places where we have not found bonfires yet. If you want to supplement the guide, write about it in the comments.
Being near a lit bonfire gives the following positive effects:
+3 levels to the Endurance skill;
+3 levels to the Strength skill;
+3 levels to the Vitality skill;
+3 levels to the Immunity skill;
+300% stamina recovery speed.
If you manage to light three bonfires at once, bird songs will play for a minute, and a non-aggressive boss, The Seer, will appear. He will be giving out items, but attacking him is not advisable as he will defend himself. Killing this enemy is almost impossible!
At Customs, we encountered bonfires most frequently, in five locations:
Here, we also found several places where event bots appeared next to bonfires:
Since a huge shopping center occupies most of the map, you can encounter minions here on the street in several places:
So far, we have only encountered bonfires in two places on this location, but surely there could be more spawn points:
Throughout many raids, we have only encountered minions once — near the temporary EMS camp. If you have encountered them at other points of interest, please write about it in the comments.
Expedition is a new map for beginners, which becomes inaccessible after reaching level 20. During our search, we only found bonfires in front of the TerraGroup building and near the «Prospect Mira» exit.
Igniting a bonfire is quite simple. You will need tracer ammunition of any caliber. A few shots will ignite the bonfire for about 15 seconds. To prolong the burning, you will have to shoot again.
Note that as soon as you attempt to ignite bonfires, nearby minions will start attacking you, regardless of whether you play as a PMC or a Scav.
New bots appear next to bonfires and do not attack players passing by, be it PMCs or Scavs. However, if you try to ignite a bonfire or attack one of them, they will return fire.
Being in close proximity to such a bot, the player receives a new effect — «Mara's Cold». As a result, the body temperature decreases, and some players report that for PMCs, the weapon may switch from automatic fire mode to single.
The minions have decent weapons, but you won't be able to fire them properly as they are broken and will jam after each subsequent shot. These fighters are also not equipped with top-tier gear and often use the cheapest ammunition. In the pockets of some, you can find grenades and other valuables, as well as remove expensive weapon modules.
They may be armed with the following guns:
Initially, there may be only a few bots guarding the bonfires — just a few pieces. But after eliminating one, others will start to appear. In total, you will have to deal with about two dozen enemies in one go.
The health of the bonfire guards is about twice as much as that of an ordinary PMC. Also note that they can be killed with «player scavs» — a player controlling a Scav. In this case, the reputation with the Fence trader will not be deducted, as it would be if you killed regular bots or bosses.
During the event, all standard enemies appear on the maps as usual. For example, in one raid on Customs, you might encounter Scavs, Reshala, The Goons, and Morana's minions.
