In the remake of Resident Evil 4, there's no shortage of treasures to be found across each of the three main regions. Some are hidden behind puzzles, while others require Small Keys. If you've come across a locked dresser, it means you first need to find a key, and then the treasure.

Whether you're looking to complete the merchant's treasure maps in Resident Evil 4 or just want to earn some extra cash, below are all the locations where you can find Small Keys scattered throughout the game. If you're curious about what's inside each locked box, you can find that information in the last section.

For every locked dresser you encounter in the Resident Evil 4 remake, there's a Small Key hidden somewhere in the same region. You can open them in any order. Note that any key can open any box.

One thing to remember is that once you cross a point of no return in a region, you won't be able to go back and collect any treasures you missed unless you've made a manual save beforehand. If you start a new game and save it after finishing the game the previous time, you'll have to collect all the treasures again.

A total of eight Small Keys can be collected in the Resident Evil 4 remake, spanning the first two regions. There are no locked boxes on the island, so make sure to grab everything you need before leaving the village and the castle.

The description includes the chapter number where you'll first encounter the item, but you can pick it up at any point until you cross the point of no return. In the Village, this happens when you head to the evacuation point with Ashley. In the Castle, it happens when you enter the clock tower.

Valley Small Key

Village Chief's Manor Small Key

Small Key at the Lake Settlement / Forest Altar

Small Key in the Great Hall

  • Chapter: 9;
  • Region: Castle;
  • Location: while searching for the three statue heads, enter the room to the north (looking at the map), take the key from the cabinet in the upper left corner of the armor hall. This will be on the way to meeting the knights, so if you miss the key, just return to the room later.

Small Key in the Ballroom

  • Chapter: 12;
  • Region: Castle;
  • Location: as soon as you return to the castle area after your adventures with Luis in the mines, you will come across the merchant, as well as the railway track that will take you to the clock tower. Before doing so, approach the right side of the train to find a briefcase with the key inside.

Reward from Chests

Most items from the contents of chests are only for sale, but there is also a precious gem and a treasure with slots to increase its price for precious gems.

As for the locations, they are very easy to find. To find all the chests, buy the treasure map of the area from the merchant to accurately determine where they are. However, it does not reveal the location of Small Keys.

Rewards for locked chests:

  • Locked chest in the Abandoned Factory: elegant mask (worth 5000 without gems);
  • Locked chest in the Village Square: vintage compass (worth 8000);
  • Lockbox at the Quarry in the merchant's post: brass pocket watch (worth 8000);
  • Locked chest at the Lakeside Settlement: gold ingot (L) (worth 15000);
  • Locked chest in the Church: yellow diamond (worth 7000, but better in combination with treasures);
  • Locked chest in the Audience Chamber: gold ingot (worth 10000);
  • Lockbox in the Bindery: brass pocket watch (worth 8000);
  • Locked chest on the Castle Battlements: decorated beetle (worth 12000).
