How to Unlock All True Endings in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, there are 6 endings, but only three of them are true. They unlock alternative scenarios for each of the three available kingdoms — Shu, Wei, and Wu. While regular endings can be achieved by simply completing the game for one of the sides, true endings require fulfilling special conditions in key battles, making decisions that change the course of history. In this guide, we will detail how to unlock each of the endings and provide all the necessary explanations.

How to Unlock All True Endings in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

The kingdom storylines have unique true endings that are unlocked only by meeting certain conditions. These conditions are hidden until you start the "New Game+" mode. It is implied that the first time you should play as intended by the developers.

Moreover, fulfilling the conditions will require high-class equipment and a leveled-up character, which is impossible to achieve on the first "run". Once you unlock "New Game+", hints will appear in the "Story" menu to help you roughly understand what needs to be done. Unfortunately, they are not very informative, which may lead to complete confusion about why you cannot succeed.

The main idea of the secret endings is that you change the fate of key characters and influence the outcome of important battles. For example, you can save a hero from death or prevent a defeat that seemed inevitable. Overall, for the kingdom of Shu, only one character is important, while for Wu and Wei, two are important. The problem is that simply "saving" them will not work. You will need to complete step-by-step tasks, otherwise failure is inevitable. Sometimes these additional complications are not even specified, such as time constraints. If successful, an alternative storyline opens where events unfold differently, and the ending becomes completely different.

The "Story" menu can be found in the tavern. There you can quickly move to the necessary battles. Do not hesitate to lower the difficulty to easy if your goal is not a challenge but simply viewing other endings. This will slightly simplify an already difficult task but will not affect the result.

Shu

To achieve the true ending for the kingdom of Shu, you must defeat Cao Cao's army in the Battle of Changban (Chapter 5). The hint says something like: "Stand in the way of Cao Cao's massive army or retreat... The fate of Liu Bei will be determined by his choice." Retreating is the logical choice in the situation, but you need victory. This means you have to protect Liu Bei.

Battle of Changban

The first thing necessary is to use Zhang Fei or Zhao Yun to hold back the enemy troops and break through to Liu Bei. After uniting, the allied army will begin advancing with the peasants, who must be protected. Now you need to eliminate key officers: Yu Jin and Zhang Liao. This is necessary to prevent their attacks on Liu Bei.

Head north to where Cao Cao's main army is located. Defeat him before Liu Bei reaches the evacuation point. After defeating Cao Cao, finish the battle by dealing with the remaining enemies. Now you are on the path to the true ending of Shu. The remaining missions can be completed in the standard way.

Wei

To unlock the true ending for the kingdom of Wei, you need to save Dian Wei during his escape from Wan Castle (Chapter 4). The "Story" menu says something like: "A fork in the road appeared for Dian Wei... Perhaps everything would have been different if there were no enemies left in the castle."

It is easy to assume that your task is to quickly eliminate all enemy officers in the castle before Dian Wei is captured or killed.

How to Save Dian Wei

First, capture several bases in the castle. Start with the base in the northwest to set up ladders for Cao Cao. Then take control of the base in the northeast. Reinforcements will come to the enemies from the south and east. Deal with them as quickly as possible, or allied forces will suffer. You can enter the castle via ladders set up at the first base. Inside the castle, you need to fight four officers: Zhang Quan, Jia Xu, Zhang Xiu, and Huche'er. The latter is located separately from the others in the southeast point of the castle. If Huche'er starts a dialogue after being defeated, you are doing everything correctly. Act quickly, using the most powerful abilities to meet the hidden time limit.

After defeating the officers, ensure a safe retreat for Cao Cao. This will pave the way to the true ending for the kingdom of Wei. However, it's not over yet.

Battle for Mount Bailang

Another timed battle, but this time in Chapter 5. You must ensure the advancement of Guo Jia and Cao Cao's army to the west. There will be very tight timing here, so you must not make any mistakes in your actions. Capture three bases step by step as quickly as possible. At the last base, three officers await, joined by two more, complicating an already difficult task. Once you manage, continue moving west until you find Bailuan. If the boss says he can't stop you after a prolonged battle, you have succeeded. Guo Jia must say that the battle is unfolding perfectly.

Battle of Chibi

In the same Chapter 5, there will be another battle that becomes the final condition for the true ending. The main task is to prevent fire attacks. Ignore Zhuge Liang's altar and immediately look for Huang Gai. First, monitor the defense of your allies. After some time, Guo Jia will hint that the wind has changed. Head to Cao Cao's ships in the middle of the map. Note that there will be a marker with a yellow flag in the north. Huang Gai awaits there. Defeat him quickly, or a fire attack is inevitable. If everything is done correctly, the rest of the campaign can be completed without much effort and additional tasks.

Wu

To achieve the true ending for the kingdom of Wu, the first step is to save Sun Jian in the Battle of Xiangyang (Chapter 3). The hint says: "A fork in the road for Sun Jian. If only the savior arrived in time...".

Battle of Xiangyang

Quickly reach the western edge of the map, ahead of your army. There will be a boulder blocking the path to Sun Jian. You will have to wait a bit. A phantom version of Zhang Jiao will appear. You need to defeat him before Huang Gai reaches Sun Jian. If you delay, Sun Jian will be killed, and you will lose the chance for the secret finale. If successful, the boulder will be destroyed, and the path will open. After the classic scene with Sun Jian, there will be another one where the main character saves the NPC we need. This stage is complete, but there is another one in Chapter 4.

Saving Sun Ce

Hint: "A fork in the road for Sun Ce. If only the enemy mage was quickly eliminated...". At the beginning, help Sun Ce and Sun Quan complete their tasks. This is a regular part of the battle without additional conditions. Don't forget to capture the central base with fire arrows — this will secure the allies. It will be useful to also take control of several adjacent bases to strengthen the troops' positions.

When Sun Ce captures the base and disappears into the western forest, follow him and use the "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" skill to detect the incense smoke. Go to it, and you will find yourself on a secret path to a cave. Inside awaits Bailuan. There is a time limit here too, but not as strict as in previous challenges. It is important to defeat the boss before Sun Quan's death. This is enough to unlock the true ending for the kingdom of Wu.
