Guide to All Monsters in R.E.P.O. (Bestiary)

In the process of fulfilling the quota in R.E.P.O., players will encounter a variety of enemies. Some of them are harmless and pose no threat, while others can be deadly. If you plan to try your hand at this game, be sure to check out our bestiary. We have compiled a list of all enemies and described their strengths and weaknesses in detail.

Gnome

Gnomes in the game are some of the most annoying and frequently encountered enemies. They always attack in groups of three to five, relying on the tactics of numerical superiority and surprise. Although their damage is small, they cause a lot of trouble by destroying your valuable resources.

Their ability to respawn endlessly with a short delay if present on the level adds even more problems. However, their weakness makes them an easy target: you can simply pick up a gnome and smash it against a wall or floor to instantly eliminate the threat.

But the most effective way to deal with them is to use them as improvised weapons. Throw gnomes at other enemies to deal damage. This way, you will get rid of not only them but also stronger enemies on the level.

Chef (Frog)

The Chef resembles a slow-moving frog in his behavior. He often pauses, smirks, and then suddenly lunges at the nearest player, swinging his cleavers. Although his attacks deal significant damage, they rarely kill with the first strike. If the Chef misses, he momentarily loses balance, turning into a ragdoll-like state. This is your chance to either retreat or counterattack while he tries to recover.

Despite the simplicity of his tactics, the Chef can become a serious threat if he catches you off guard. Therefore, always be on the lookout: dodge his jumps and attack when he is vulnerable. Defeating this enemy will earn you between 1.5 to 3 thousand dollars, making him a worthy target. The main thing is not to let him turn your hero into minced meat.

Peeper (Eye Monster)

The Peeper is a creature that hides on the ceiling and remains unnoticed until it spots a player. When it decides to attack, your cursor will be forcibly directed at it. If eye contact lasts for about 3 seconds, the Peeper will start dealing 10 damage per second until the player looks away or hides behind cover.

When the player stops looking at the Peeper, the effect ceases, and the monster disappears after a few seconds. However, at this moment, the player's voice becomes high-pitched, as if after inhaling helium, and the field of view expands, which can cause disorientation.

To deal with the monster, be ready to quickly retreat and get out of its line of sight. Taking cover in a doorway or under a table can be effective. If a partner is nearby, it simplifies the task: the monster can only attack one player at a time, allowing the other to guide you or, for example, close the door in front of you to interrupt the attack.

Clown

The Clown is a dangerous and noisy enemy that moves with loud, heavy steps. His main weapon is a laser beam capable of instantly destroying anything in its path. As soon as he spots a player, an ominous laugh is heard, and the laser is activated.

The laser automatically adjusts to the player's position, so even being on an elevation doesn't always save you. After firing, the Clown loses the ability to act for a few seconds while his weapon cools down. If the laser is on cooldown (about 8 seconds), he switches to melee combat, delivering a powerful kick. This attack deals 50 damage and knocks the player back, which can lead to death. The Clown can also attack hidden players if he senses their presence.

Fighting the Clown is difficult, but you can exploit his weaknesses. Since he cannot jump, being on a high ledge gives you an advantage. When he is stunned after firing, you can counterattack.

Crouching under the laser requires precise timing, but the most reliable way to avoid the attack is to take cover behind sturdy objects. Keep in mind that the laser destroys your findings, so keep valuable items away during the fight with him.

Upscream

The Upscream is a distorted humanoid creature capable of moving across the floor, walls, and ceiling at moderate speed. They usually appear in groups of 2-3 individuals. When an Upscream spots a player, it grabs them, emits a piercing scream, and throws them back, dealing 10 damage and stunning them for 2 seconds.

One Upscream is not as dangerous and may only annoy you, but in a group, they become a serious threat. Their ability to stun the player can lead to you being trapped until you perish.

A hammer is ideal for fighting these enemies. You can also use a tranquilizer, which temporarily paralyzes such foes, allowing you to grab them and slam them against walls or the floor, dealing damage.

If you encounter multiple Upscreams, it's important for your team to act cohesively. Otherwise, you risk being drawn into a prolonged battle that can last until the end of the raid.

Reaper

The Reaper is a rather weak and slow opponent. You can easily hide from him, as the enemy cannot hear anything and has very poor vision — players simply need to crouch to remain unnoticed.

If the Reaper spots you, he will start swinging his blade-like arms and charge at you. However, his speed leaves much to be desired, and he easily loses sight of his target. Just hide around a corner, and he will likely forget about your existence.

The Reaper does not react to the sounds of voices, footsteps, or jumps, but his attention is attracted by the gravitational beam emitted by the protagonist. Therefore, it is worth avoiding picking up valuable items in his presence.

In combat, you need to be cautious: his chaotic blows can knock items out of your hands, and although he is not very intelligent, he can quickly reduce your health. On the other hand, the predictable paths of the enemy make him an excellent target for melee training and using tranquilizers.

Trudge

The Trudge is an extremely dangerous creature that, despite its slowness, instills fear. It drags a massive club behind it, producing the grinding sound of stones, which can be heard even through walls. We were lucky to encounter this enemy literally on the second run.

When the Trudge notices a player, it creates a shockwave that pulls everyone within its line of sight. Although the wave's damage is minor, the subsequent club strike can be deadly. Despite its low speed, the Trudge is cunning. It uses its tendrils to reach under furniture if it suspects you are hiding there. Fighting it is possible, but risky due to its high health and ability to pull victims into tight spaces.

Mines can be an effective means against it, but if they are insufficient for complete destruction or distraction, it's best to run, hide, and wait for it to leave.

Headman (Floating Head)

The Headman is a giant floating entity that moves around the area, emitting loud sounds in search of players. It is extremely sensitive to flashlight light: if you shine a beam on it, it will scream and attack, dealing 50 damage per bite and potentially knocking you back.

Under normal conditions, the Headman does not show aggression and will not bother you unless attacked or provoked. If it starts chasing you, just turn a corner and hide — it will quickly forget about you and continue to patrol the area aimlessly. If you decide to fight it, wait for its attack, as it has a long cooldown. Due to its limited reach, sledgehammers become an excellent choice: if you keep swinging, it won't be able to bite you. Additionally, this weapon is effective due to the large hitbox and low health of this entity.

Banger

The Banger is an explosive opponent that appears in groups of three and wanders aimlessly, often straying from its group. If it spots a player or takes damage, its fuse will ignite, and it will rush towards the nearest player.

Once the fuse is lit, it cannot be extinguished. The Banger's explosion instantly destroys everything nearby and deals significant damage at a distance. Bangers can be picked up and used as grenades, but they are not easily handled: enemies often break free from your hands in about 3 seconds, so be ready to catch them again.

They have two sound signals: a hidden timer lasting about 10 seconds and a final warning — a quiet scream before the explosion. If you don't want to deal with them, throw them into a well, lava, or acid. With proper timing, they can be used to damage or destroy other enemies. But upon first encountering them, it's best to stay away from the team to avoid mass casualties.

Apex Predator (Duck)

The Duck is a small and harmless creature that behaves like your own pet, constantly following players and trying to always be in your line of sight. When you try to pick something up, it starts jumping joyfully, as if begging to be picked up too. However, this is a trick: if you fall for it, the Duck will transform into an Apex Predator. Such a creature will start chasing you at high speed, flying and dealing damage with bites, each causing 10 damage three times per second.

The transformation also occurs if you decide to attack the Duck. In this case, it will start hunting the nearest player.

Earning from its destruction is not easy, as any aggression provokes its rage. However, there is a safe way: go to the extraction zone, activate the piston, and step back to crush it. This way, you will earn several thousand dollars. If you don't want to take risks, just ignore the enemy, no matter how cute it looks.

Hidden

The Hidden is a rare and almost invisible monster, which is a black cloud of smoke instead of a head, leaving only barely noticeable traces indicating its presence. When it encounters a player, it emits a piercing scream, grabs the victim, and swiftly carries them away, stunning them and causing them to drop items.

Detecting it is extremely difficult, and you may not even be aware of its presence on the level until it grabs you or your ally. Although it is not too dangerous on its own, its ability to carry the victim right into the midst of other enemies makes it a serious threat.

If you act quickly, you can free a captured ally, but killing the Hidden is almost impossible due to its invisibility. If you suspect the enemy is nearby, stay alert, because once you notice it, you are likely already in its grasp.

Huntsman

The Huntsman is a blind but extremely dangerous opponent with incredibly sharp hearing. He instantly reacts to footsteps, jumps, voices, or sounds of objects. If he hears any of the aforementioned, he will shoot at you with a shotgun, which at close range will lead to instant death.

He moves along a predetermined route and will not chase players if they remain silent. For safe movement, throw objects to distract his attention, dodge when he makes a sound before shooting, or lure him into a shot to slip past while he reloads. Reloading usually takes a few seconds.

Fighting him is a bad idea: he's like a tank, quickly turning and shooting, and is quite resistant to explosions. If you decide to get rid of him, use grenades, mines, or drop him onto enemies from a height. Otherwise, it's better to be patient and let him wander around the level.

Bowtie

The Bowtie is a massive monster that usually moves at a moderate speed but becomes a real threat as soon as it spots a player. At this moment, it begins to emit a continuous scream that pushes the player back and deprives them of the ability to run and jump until they manage to escape.

Although the scream itself does not cause harm, colliding with a wall or obstacle can be extremely painful. Additionally, the Bowtie is capable of pushing away small monsters.

Sometimes Bowties can unexpectedly go into a rage, accelerating towards you and destroying everything in their path. But when such enemies are just wandering, they are slow and stop during the scream, making them quite an easy target.

Tranquilizers and firearms work well against them, but melee weapons are also effective, as Bowties have very little health and die from one or two hits. If it blocks your path, just wait, and soon it will move away.

Mentalist (Alien)

The Mentalist is a rare flying enemy that actively hunts players. As soon as it detects a target, it activates an anti-gravity aura that lifts all players and nearby objects into the air, holding them suspended for 10 seconds. After this, the aura changes color to red, and everything crashes to the ground, often leading to the death of players caught under furniture due to physical damage.

If you are lifted to a great height, it will be considered as fall damage, resulting in a loss of 40-50 health points. The Mentalist can teleport anywhere at will, disappearing into thin air, making it difficult to track.

It is quite easy to eliminate with melee weapons, as it has little health. If it catches you, ask a teammate for help before it drops the hero and deals damage.

The safest solution is to hide, as the Mentalist has poor hearing and vision. However, if it spots you, it will begin pursuit at medium speed. Considering its teleportation ability, always be prepared for it to be behind the next door.

Robe

The Robe is a fast and silent monster that relentlessly pursues players. It doesn't notice them until it's close enough to strike. The attack knocks gamers back and deals 50 damage when crouching and 100 damage when standing. If you look at its mask, it activates rage mode and starts chasing you at high speed.

Hiding from it is ineffective, as the opponent remembers the last location and will search for players under tables, beds, and even in closets. The best way to survive is to avoid eye contact, keep your distance, and wait, as it will disappear if it doesn't detect a player for a certain period. We do not recommend fighting it, as it has a lot of health and can easily pass through mines.

Animal

A fast and chaotic creature that does not pose a serious threat. Its attack is so slow that it deals only 2 damage. Although its movements seem random and unpredictable, the creature is actually harmless and even useful, as it can crush gnomes standing in its path.

If you try to catch it, it will speed up and run away, but if several people grab it at once, it will freeze for a moment and then start dealing damage to everyone around. Most likely, the Creature will prefer to run away rather than engage in combat, and it is very easy to destroy with any weapon, as it cannot resist.

Shadow Child

The Shadow Child is a slender, teleporting monster that appears and disappears with a characteristic sound of children's laughter. Looking at it causes the screen to darken slightly, and after 2-3 seconds, a screamer with a loud scream appears, dealing 30 damage and knocking the player back.

It's not necessary to destroy it, but if it's in an inconvenient location, just wait—it usually disappears within 10 seconds. You can also hit the enemy with melee weapons, as it has quite low health and instantly dies from most attacks. Otherwise, it is more of an annoyance than a serious threat.

Spewer

The Spewer is a fast and frequently encountered flying enemy that pursues players and releases green liquid when it spots them. It either approaches or emits screams and bleats a few seconds later if you remain in its sight.

When the enemy touches you, it will chase the player for 10 seconds to a minute, causing no direct harm but altering your voice and sometimes inducing vomiting. This vomiting damages allies, enemies, valuable, and fragile items.

If you grab it when it's not attached, it will get scared and fly away, but if you corner it while trying to escape, it will start defending itself, dealing 10 damage per second. Try to avoid collisions with teammates.

Rugrat (Baby Monster)

The Baby Monster is an opponent that constantly roams the area in search of valuable items. Upon seeing a player with an item in hand, it throws that item at the player, damaging both the item and the player.

If it doesn't have a weapon in its hands, it will prefer to hide. Despite the lack of other attacks, it should not be underestimated. The Baby can simultaneously pick up and throw two player items, which can lead to death, destruction of items, or both.

To destroy it, you need to grab it and slam it against the floor or walls. However, it is significantly heavier than gnomes, and lifting it will require either 2-3 people or one person with three strength upgrades. If you are unarmed or acting alone, these little thieves can become a serious problem.
