The next Lord of the Rings film might feature not only Gollum but also other familiar faces from Peter Jackson's movie trilogy. Actor Ian McKellen mentioned in a recent interview with The Big Issue that he was offered to reprise his role as the wizard Gandalf.
McKellen does not yet know the details of the film, noting that the script has not been written yet. Nevertheless, the character already has some role in the plot.
The film is tentatively titled The Hunt for Gollum. Andy Serkis, who played the character, will also direct, and Peter Jackson will produce. The premiere is slated for 2026.
Previously, Elijah Wood, who played Frodo, stated that he is also ready to return to Middle-earth.
