Media Reveals Who Could Play Minerva McGonagall in HBO's Harry Potter Series
News about the possible casting in the HBO series Harry Potter is gaining momentum. This time, rumors have emerged about who could play Professor Minerva McGonagall.
According to Deadline, two actresses are being considered for the role. The first candidate could be Sharon Horgan, known for the film Death of a Superhero and the series Catastrophe. Oscar-winning Rachel Weisz, who could be seen in the films The Mummy, Constantine: Lord of Darkness, Eragon and Black Widow, looks more favorable against her background.
Meanwhile, the Feature First portal reports on another performer claiming the role of Minerva McGonagall. Presumably, this could be Janet McTeer, known for the films Wuthering Heights, The Woman in Black and Maleficent.
There are also new faces in the running for other roles. According to Deadline, Mark Strong of Kingsman and Shazam! fame could be cast as Dumbledore, while Ted Lasso's Brett Goldstein could very well be cast as Hagrid.
Recall that in September, 89-year-old actress Maggie Smith, who played Professor McGonagall in the original film adaptation of Harry Potter, passed away.
Earlier, there was a rumor that the role of Severus Snape in the HBO series could be played by British actor Paapa Essiedu.
