Warner Bros. Television has reportedly found the ideal Dumbledore for its upcoming Harry Potter adaptation, according to Variety. Sources indicate the company is interested in working with Mark Rylance.
Mark Rylance is a British theater and film actor and an Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actor, an award he received for his role in Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies.
Rylance is currently the top candidate for the role of Hogwarts' headmaster. Variety sources claim Warner Bros. has already reached out to him, though no formal negotiations have yet taken place.
Rylance is 64 years old, and with the Harry Potter series expected to span seven seasons, he will be over 70 by the end of the story.
The Harry Potter series premiere is scheduled for 2026.
