New Arts from Avatar: Fire and Ash and Details from James Cameron Revealed

Director James Cameron, in a recent interview with Empire, shared new insights about his upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash. Additionally, fresh concept art has surfaced online.

According to Cameron, the main characters will encounter the Ash Clan, led by Varang. "Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She's hardened by that", — Cameron says about Varang.

She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil. One thing we wanted to do in this film is not be black-and-white simplistic. We’re trying to evolve beyond the "all humans are bad, all Na’vi are good’ paradigm".

Varang will be portrayed by actress Oona Chaplin, known for her role as Talisa Maegyr in Game of Thrones.

"She’s an enemy, an adversarial character, but Chaplin makes her so real and alive", — noted Cameron.

The film will also feature the 'Windtraders' (depicted in the concept art). They are a nomadic people of Pandora, soaring through the clouds on giant creatures.

"They’re nomadic traders, equivalent to the camel caravans of the Spice Road back in the Middle Ages. And you know, they’re just fun. Like all Na’vi, they live in a symbiosis with their creatures", — the director explained.

Remember, Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to premiere on December 19 this year. The budget is $250 million. The previous installment grossed $2.3 billion with a budget of $350-460 million.
