Worst Film of 2024 Named: Madame Web Won in Three Nominations

Ahead of the 2025 Oscars, the winners of another, less prestigious film award have been announced. Madame Web with Dakota Johnson took home the main Razzie Award in three nominations, including Worst Picture.

The Sony film, which was supposed to expand the "spider universe" without Spider-Man, also led in the Worst Screenplay and Worst Actress (Dakota Johnson) nominations. Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis, Joker, and Unglazed also won two awards each.

The full list of 2025 Razzie Award winners:

  • Worst Actor — Jerry Seinfeld, Unfrosted;
  • Worst Actress — Dakota Johnson, Madame Web;
  • Worst Supporting Actor — Jon Voight, Megalopolis;
  • Worst Supporting Actress — Amy Schumer, Unfrosted;
  • Worst Director — Francis Ford Coppola, Megalopolis;
  • Worst Screen Combo — Joaquin Phoenix & Lady Gaga, Joker: Folie à Deux;
  • Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off, or Sequel — Joker: Folie à Deux;
  • Worst Screenplay — Madame Web.

By the way, Francis Coppola wasn't upset about his Razzies win. The director wrote on Instagram that he was very happy with this and believed that by doing so he only emphasized the difference between his film and mainstream cinema:

I am thrilled to accept the Razzie award in so many important categories for Megalopolis, and for the distinctive honor of being nominated as the worst director, worst screenplay, and worst picture at a time when so few have the courage to go against the prevailing trends of contemporary moviemaking! In this wreck of a world today, where ART is given scores as if it were professional wrestling, I chose to NOT follow the gutless rules laid down by an industry so terrified of risk that despite the enormous pool of young talent at its disposal, may not create pictures that will be relevant and alive 50 years from now.
— Francis Ford Coppola

Recall that the 2025 Oscars ceremony will take place on the night of March 2-3.
