In a recent interview with The Times, Avengers franchise directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo stated that Robert Downey Jr. is the perfect fit for the role of Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite having previously played Tony Stark (Iron Man).

They hinted that Tony Stark's death in 'Endgame' is connected to Doctor Doom's storyline in the upcoming film Avengers: Judgement Day.

The premiere of Avengers: Judgement Day is scheduled for May 2026. The film will feature Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Captain America, Bucky Barnes, the Fantastic Four, and many other characters from the Marvel universe.
