Director of the new The Mummy shares first on-set photo. The film will be a horror genre reboot

Director Lee Cronin, working on the new film The Mummy, has shared the first photo following the start of filming. The image doesn't feature any actors or sets, just a clapperboard with the movie's logo.

The film will star actor Jack Reynor, known for films such as Midsommar, Glassland, and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Nothing is known about the plot yet. It is known that the new "The Mummy" is not connected to the previous films in the franchise and will be a reboot in its own universe. The focus will be on the horror and supernatural elements. It's worth noting that Lee Cronin previously directed horror films like The Hole in the Ground and Evil Dead Rise.

The distributor is New Line Cinema. The premiere is scheduled for April 17, 2026.
