Bethesda moment: a major patch for Fallout 4 broke mod support on PC
Yesterday, Bethesda released a next-gen update for Fallout 4. Immediately after its release, many PC players noticed that the patch added not only new content but also a slew of different technical issues.
The update broke support for many mods, including the popular Fallout 4 Script Extender. As a result, old saves with enabled modifications stopped working. Fearing such problems, the developers of Fallout London previously announced the postponement of the expansion for an indefinite period.
Meanwhile, owners of RTX graphics cards are complaining about crashes due to the enabled «Weapon Debris» graphics setting. This bug has been known for several years, but it has not been fixed.
Support for ultrawide monitors, which became one of the main features, also works incorrectly. One Steam user reported that the developers did not adapt the interface for the new format.
What puzzled players the most was that the patch does not introduce significant changes. Console versions received new graphics modes with support for 4K resolution and 60 FPS, but there are no graphical improvements on PC. Meanwhile, the size of the update was 14 GB.
