Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be Smaller Than Steam Deck but Will Feature Magnetic Controllers

Vandal shared alleged details about the successor to the Nintendo Switch. The source of the information was accessory manufacturers for Nintendo devices, who supposedly got their hands on the new console.
The manufacturers have not yet seen the Switch 2, as it was contained in an opaque box. Nintendo only allowed them to touch the device inside the box to gauge its size and learn about the button layout. Here's what was discovered:
- The console is larger than the standard Nintendo Switch but smaller than the Steam Deck;
- New controllers will attach using magnets;
- Pro controllers will be compatible with the new console, but standard Joy-Cons likely will not be;
- Nothing is known about backward compatibility, although it is assumed that Switch 2 will support the previous generation;
- The release is likely to happen in early 2025.
Previously, we wrote that the Nintendo Switch could soon become the world's most popular console. In February, the device surpassed the milestone of 139 million units sold.
