Nintendo Officially Reveals Timeline for Switch 2 Announcement

Today, Nintendo held a meeting with investors where it shared its achievements. The company officially confirmed that it will announce its next-generation console during this fiscal year, meaning by March 31, 2025.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa immediately cautioned that the June Nintendo Direct will focus solely on games for the original Switch, releasing in the second half of 2024. Likely, we'll hear about the new console in the fall at the earliest.

According to the report, the company sold another 15.7 million consoles over the past fiscal year, with total sales reaching 141 million units. It is expected that by the end of next March, this figure will reach 154 million.

It's worth mentioning that in March, former PlayStation head Jim Ryan reported that PlayStation 2, the world's most popular console, had sold 160 million units. Likely, Nintendo will break this record by 2026.
