May 22, 2024, 10:46 AM
After numerous leaks, the gameplay of Deadlock, Valve's next online game that simultaneously resembles Dota 2 and CS2, has surfaced online. The clip was shared by one of the alpha test participants.
The short snippet showcases map navigation, shooting, and various heroes — currently, there are 19 of them. The game is a MOBA shooter with elements of fantasy and steampunk, offering battles for 12 players.
Reliable insider Tom Henderson confirmed all recent leaks and also shared additional details:
- Deadlock is officially described as «early development build with lots of experimental gameplay features and art assets“;
- The character set is quite typical for a MOBA. There are tanks, healers, assassins, and other classes;
- In terms of gameplay, Deadlock is very similar to Dota. Players need to kill creeps and accumulate a special currency (souls), which is needed to purchase items;
- After killing a creep, its soul starts rising. If you shoot it, the hero will get even more money;
- Notably, creeps spawn randomly on the map. There is also a particularly powerful enemy similar to Roshan;
- The game features special ”spirit urns» that are placed in the center of the map and give the friendly team more souls. The hero carrying the urn is visible to all players on the mini-map.
Henderson does not know the release date of the game but wouldn't be surprised if it comes out in 2025.
