The showrunner of Acolyte, Leslye Headland, shared in a recent interview which stories and characters inspired her to create the Star Wars series. As it turned out, one of the sources was the role-playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2.
The showrunner was most impressed by Darth Traya, one of the key characters in the game. Headland did not specify what influence the heroine had on the series.
Darth Traya really stuck out to me as an inspiration.
The creators of the show also wanted to include other characters from projects that are not part of the official Star Wars canon.
I really toyed with utilizing Darth Bane or mentioning Bane. We do not do it in the first season, but it is obviously the legacy of these practitioners of the dark side. While we don't get into that particular lore, there were some things in Legends that I wanted to drag out because I felt they were really interesting, not only to the storyline but to myself as a fan. I thought, 'Well, I'd love to do that.
The premiere of Acolyte will take place on June 4, 2024. A total of eight episodes will be released.
