Sony held a business presentation for investors where it revealed many interesting details, including game sales and future plans.
- PS5 has become the most profitable PlayStation generation. Total revenue has already approached PS4's seven-year figures;
- Compared to PS4, premium game sales have decreased by 12%, but interest in add-ons and microtransactions has increased by 176%;
- The number of PS Plus subscriptions has increased by 57%. 35% of subscribers have switched to more expensive plans;
- PS4 accounts for half (49 million) of all active PlayStation consoles per month. Meanwhile, PS5 owners play more frequently;
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has sold over 11 million copies (PS5). Helldivers 2 sales have exceeded 12 million copies (PC and PS5);
- Sony has once again confirmed that it will continue to release games on PC. Service titles will be released simultaneously on all platforms, while story-driven projects will come out a couple of years later. The idea is for gamers to play the game on PC and then buy a PS5 for the sequel;
- The Bungie studio is almost fully integrated into Sony's business processes. The company expects significant revenue from Destiny 2: The Final Shape and Marathon in the future.
The company did not mention the improved PS5 Pro console. According to rumors, sales will start at the end of 2024.
