Sony quietly removed 8K resolution mention from PlayStation 5 boxes
June 6, 2024, 12:03 PM
Reddit users noticed that Sony quietly removed the mention of 8K resolution support from PlayStation 5 boxes. On Amazon and Walmart websites, you can still find old revisions with the 8K label, but they are no longer present in the official PlayStation Direct store.
Players believe that the company either removed the label permanently or will place it on PlayStation 5 Pro boxes. According to rumors, sales of the more powerful console will start at the end of 2024.
Sony promoted 8K support as one of the features of the PlayStation 5. However, over time, only one game has been released on the console that works in ultra-high resolution — the 2021 adventure game The Touryst.
