The graphic novel Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver — The Dead Shall Rise has been announced

The cult series Legacy of Kain, which was especially popular in the 1990s and 2000s, is returning, but not in the form of a game, but as a prequel graphic novel. The novella is subtitled The Dead Shall Rise.

The plot will tell about Raziel's past in the days when he was still human and served as a Sarafan warrior. As events unfold, readers will learn how the hero became a vampire serving Kain.

The Dead Shall Rise will provide answers to long-standing fan questions related to the myths of the world of Nosgoth. In addition, the novel will also introduce a new vampire character closely connected to Raziel and Kain.

Crystal Dynamics and Bit Bot Media are involved in the creation of the novella. The script was written by Joshua Viola and Angie Hodapp. Juan Samu is responsible for the interior design. The book also features illustrations by Jonny Bush and Ninja Jo.

The Dead Shall Rise will be funded through crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

Recall that earlier the fan-made remaster of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was released with improved graphics and new textures. In addition, in 2022 Crystal Dynamics conducted a survey among gamers, hinting at the revival of the series.
