Helldivers 2 creators promised to bring fun back to the game

The multiplayer shooter Helldivers 2 has ridden the Steam charts in less than six months — from half a million players at release to a couple of tens of thousands online. After seeing this, the developers from the Arrowheads studio promised to bring fun to the forefront of the game.

Recently, Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt got in touch with players on Discord. In his message, the developer told fans that big changes related to balance will soon occur in the shooter.

I have been working closely with the team to look at the game experience (balance mostly). We are confident in the update that we are creating that it will see a significant meta shift and bring the game into a state where the playfulness takes the front seat and challenge is secondary. I have had a good time with the experience shift, and it is closer to the original intent of the game and what it was at launch.

The creative director of Helldivers 2 did not say when this update would be released. He only joked that it would be «soon by Valve standards» and asked players not to set their expectations too high. However, the game, according to him, will become more dynamic, more realistic, and with an abundance of useful mechanics.

Recall that in August, a major update with the tenth difficulty level was released for Helldivers 2.
