Diablo 4 hints at return of legendary secret level

Data miners have found new evidence that Diablo 4 may yet feature the very same «cow level» from previous games in the series. With the latest patch, several items were added to the game that directly reference the secret dungeon.

The «cow level» was first implemented in Diablo 2 as a response from the developers to a joke among fans. Players could get into a special dungeon and fight a horde of cows, meeting the Cow King in the finale. A similar secret level appeared later in the third part, but in Diablo 4 it has not yet been found, or it has not even been implemented.

The other day, players seem to have made progress in their search. While exploring the content of patch 2.0 on the test server, they discovered a new weapon, the Rusty Bardiche, with the Smell of Manure effect, reminiscent of the Bovine Bardiche from the third game, which allowed access to the «cow level». The data miners also noticed several quest items — the Unusual Key, the Rusted Old Bell, the Crooked Staff, and the Jabbering Gemstone. Items with similar names allowed access to another secret level in Diablo 3.

Earlier, it became known that an even more formidable version of the Butcher appeared in the fifth season of Diablo 4. And recently, a new trailer for the Vessel of Hatred story add-on with a new class was released.
